Who we

THE Democracy Development Information Centre (Centro de Información sobre el Desarrollo de la Democracia - CIDEC) is a Colombian non-profit organisation that was formed in February 1996.

Its main objective is to see that the violations of human rights and International Humanitarian Law that are perpetrated every day in the Colombian armed conflict do not go unpunished and get forgotten.

Kidnappings, murders, massacres and other expressions of violence have made Colombia one of the most violent countries in the world.

There is a need for the international community to understand what is really going on, so that it can then pass judgement and point the finger at those responsible.

CIDEC acknowledges the dedication and commitment of so many Colombians to achieving peace, and has decided to publish this website as a way of bringing them all together and helping in some way.
